TJ Maurice stands just over six feet tall, with shoulder length whiteish hair, a well kept three day stubble beard and moustache, and a stocky but slim build that hints at quiet strength. He works privately as a paranormal investigator and is the sort of man people seek out when ordinary explanations fail and the shadows will not stay in their corners.

An elfin hybrid and a dedicated practitioner of elfin magic, he moves between worlds with an instinct that cannot be taught. His work is anchored by two favoured tools, a trusty Blackthorn Cane, and seven raw crystals kept in a purple pouch simply known as the Elfstones, a modest name for objects that have ended more than one haunting before it could become a tragedy.

A loner by nature, TJ spends long stretches in study, tracing old rites, forgotten languages, and the fine laws that govern what can be summoned and what must never be invited. Yet even he has, at times, stepped into partnership with the controversial magician Aleister Vale. Together, they have endured dark and dangerous nights that left their mark, and ensured TJ Maurice is never called in for simple cases.
