Gillian Smith

Archeologist and Manager at Llangollen Museum

Archaeologist with a special interest in British Pre-history. Manager at Llangollen
Museum and collector of folklore.
Gained an MA in archaeology from Glasgow University. Gillian worked in the
Hunterian Museum Glasgow. B.A in history and geography. Postgraduate degree in
archaeology. A fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland. Gillian spent two years researching Iron Age Wheelhouses on Shetland and the Western Isles. She also worked on the Roman pottery in the Grosvenor Museum Chester and taken part in many excavations in Scotland, England and the Isle of Man. 
Retirement hasn’t happened as Gillian is currently Manager and Heritage Lottery 
project leader at Llangollen Museum.

 

At Maple Field, Gillian will be giving a Talk about:

Captive in Fairyland
We will explore the Scottish Border folklore through the stories of Tam Lin and Thomas the Rhymer.
Plants and their symbolism are important in these stories.

Tribal Dance

Tree Moonstorm Ulfhednar is a tribal fusion, sword and fire dancer of 30 years. She teaches and holds workshops for sacred dance nationally and internationally, as well as running a stall called "Wolf and the Gypsy Witch"  all products are handmade by Tree with divine love and a sprinkle of magic 🌒🌕🌘

Walking with confidence participants let go of their self imposed limitations and trust in their abilities.
This act of facing fear has a profound impact on an individual’s mindset. Leading to an increased confidence, resilience and willingness to take calculated risks.
